What is Ecohydrology?

The Institute for Ecohydrology Research is a research and environmental technology organization that conducts independent research projects and provides professional scientific assistance on simple to complex environmental issues. Our approach is to apply the best available science to challenging questions relating to ecosystem functioning and the biological responses using technology and methods that are scientifically sound, cost effective and provide high quality data. Our focus is on aquatic systems in general and the broad range of ecosystems that are dependent of hydrological processes including wetlands, rivers, lakes and watersheds. Ecohydrology is the integration of the disciplines of ecology and hydrology. We are interested in identifying the quantitative hydrologic parameters that control biological systems and how plants and animals respond to changes in the hydrologic processes due to seasonal or longer term changes in the weather or climate, respectively.
